Vijitt Resort Phuket Sustainability

Category: News Stories

Sustainability is a fundamental element of our policies.
Since the creation of the resort, every effort was made to keep as many of the existing mature trees as possible, moving the location of some of the villas to accommodate the trees. Therefore, if you find you do not have a 180 degree sea view from your villa, be aware that you are helping the world by enjoying the natural view of the azure blue sea mixed with the untainted vivid greens that form part of the ‘native’ Phuket (much of which is being lost on a daily basis as Phuket develops). Keeping these trees also helps protect the natural environment, provides a natural habitat for the indigenous species of animals and birds, helps offset your carbon emissions as you fly to Phuket, and help protect the ozone layer.

In the creation of the operational procedures of the resort, an environmental policy has been developed which will provide a basis for the development of all operational activities, underpinning everything we do.

Some of the practical things that we do in this regard include:
No use of CFC based equipment
Implementing a recycling policy and a composting program
Providing guests with non-intrusive activity options such as batik painting, Thai Cooking classes and Rubber processing
Recycling our waste water
Developing a water capture system in the resort to use captured rainwater in our irrigation system
Minimizing the use of packaging materials such as using re-usable basket at Purchasing and kitchen department
Using bio-degradable items and products such straws, amenities kit packaging

Energy saving and low carbon footprint activities are provided such as electric buggy service, free bicycle service, free non-motorized beach activities, cooking class with herbal and vegetable garden on site. In addition, we added ceilings and installed key tags to all villas to save and control electricity. We offer free shuttle service (car pool) to different attractions in Phuket and offer environmental friendly products from local community at souvenir shop.

Social aspect:
Resort has been actively participating and contributing in many activities to support local community, especially Rawai district where resort is located in such as Beach cleaning, mangrove trees planting, food and masks donations during covid-19 pandemic, turtles releasing, computers and scholarship funds donation for Wat Sawang-Arom School and much more. For special occasion, we support Rawai Sub-district Elderly Club by hiring club members to perform ‘Long Drum Parade’ and ‘Rong Ngeng Dance’.

Rawai Gypsea Village is famous for its fresh seafood. Resort purchases seafood from fisherman especially famous Phuket lobster including fruit and vegetables like Phuket pineapple and ‘pak miang’, known as the queen of Phuket local vegetables.
